hundred. District evaluation and student count have been increasing
approximately 5 to 6% over the past five years.
The district
encompasses approximately 40 square miles located in southeast Jackson
County with a portion in northeast Cass County and a small portion
in northwest Johnson County. The district's 1990 population was
estimated as 1, 973 according to the Missouri State Census Data
Center. All of the school district is located within the incorporated
city of Lone Jack (population approx. 600). Lone Jack is approximately
25 miles southeast of downtown Kansas City, Missouri and is home
to the Jackson County Civil War Museum.
The Students
in the district could be characterized as primarily Caucasian from
a rural, Midwestern background. From 1995, the district has averaged
9% free and reduced priced lunch students. In the last four years,
on average, 54% of the students enrolled as freshmen in four-year
college or university, with another 5% attending a post-secondary
training institution. Most students in grades 7-12 spend time after
school in school related activities. The district offers AM/PM childcare
for students K-6 at the primary school from 6:00 AM to 6:30 P.M.
