Tryout dates have been announced for the 2013-2014 varsity cheer squad.  As we strive for increased levels of difficulty, so too must our tryouts.  Click the link below to find tryout dates and requirements.

Tryout Dates and Requirements

Schedule for cheer during the I-70 Conference

Monday - 6:00 - Girls' team

Tuesday - 9:00 - Boys' team

Depending on winning or losing:

Wednesday - 6:00 or 9:00  - Girls' team

Thursday - 4:30 or 7:30 - Boys' team

Friday - 7:30 or 9:00 - Play-offs

Saturday - 5:00 or 6:30 - Play-offs

FRIDAY - along with cheering (maybe) we will also be manning the hospitality room and the meal table.  We don't need to bring anything; football parents are stocking the hospitality room.  Martha is stocking the meal table. We are keeping the meal table going by taking money, serving, and keeping the commons clean.

Football is over and now we must begin basketball.  Our first game is November 20 at Adrian.  We will have many practices before basketball, so be prepared.  You will receive textcaster texts, facebook posts, and texts from your captain.

Homework:  Girls, start looking for or making up new floor cheers - something other than Go, Fight, Win - new stunts for 10 people, and new basketball cheers.  EVERYONE needs to do this - there are at least 3 of you that haven't contributed anything new all year.

Also, think of locker decorations now, so we aren't rushing on game day.

Thanks!

Wow!  The football boys won their first playoff game and we move on to play Wellington on Wednesday night (Halloween)  at 7:00.  Mandatory attendance is required for cheerleaders.  We will probably leave at 4:45 or 5:00 on Wednesday.  I will let you know.  If we win this next game, we will have to play it by ear as to when and where this game is played.

Keyword this week is FLEXIBILITY!  Thank you!

Thanks for the flexibility during homecoming week and senior night.  It was a great success - our candidates in cheer looked beautiful and we honored our senior cheerleaders that will be greatly missed.

We've had a few changes on the squad, and since then, the girls have banded together and have worked more cohesively towards the common goal.  Thank you for your hard work, girls.  I know it hasn't been easy.

This Friday is the District playoffs for football.  We play Friday night, but I don't know any details yet.  Listen to the announcements and share any information with your parents.

Don't forget:  October 25 - McDonald's at Oak Grove.  The time on the website is 4:00 - 8:00.  More details to come - wear uniforms with black crop tops.  If it's not too cold, wear skirts.  Tell parents to have dinner at McDonald's- 10% of all sales go to our school.

Practice every morning at 6:30 a.m. until the dance is perfected.  The dance will be performed at the bonfire on Wednesday night.  It is mandatory that you be there. Wear your jerseys, jeans, and cowboy boots.  More long cheers will be learned and Michele's dance will be taught.  If you learn those, we can cut practice short, but that is up to your effort.

Mark your calendars for October 25 - It is McTeacher's Night at Oak Grove's McDonald's.  They have requested our cheerleaders in uniform and our mascot.  To do what?  I have no idea! But, the school receives 10% of the sales between 5 p.m - 7 p.m.  So, families, come hungry!

Posted September 30-

Practice Wednesday at 7 a.m.  We will see if we need to have practice on Thursday as well.  If we do, it might be at 6:30 a.m.

Remember all cheerleaders not playing softball must help with Youth Club Cheerleading Camp on Wednesday from 6 - 8 p.m.  Decide among yourselves what you need to bring - we need drinks (Capri Sun, juice boxes, etc) and cookies (homemade or store bought) enough for 30 youth girls.

PRACTICE - Tuesday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m.  Bring poms and bring the crowd cheer you found (weeks ago) so we can go over them.  If you didn't have a cheer then, now is the time to redeem yourself and contribute.

Parents: please ask your daughters about practice times and days.  They are told at practice when the next practice will be.  They are also told about anything that might be coming up for the next week.    Of course, things come up and schedules change, but for the most  part, your girls will have been notified of our schedule on a weekly basis.
