Greetings
February 2012
Dear students, parents and friends of Lone Jack School,
Well, I’m settling into my new role as high school principal and loving every minute of it. I continue to be amazed by the high caliber of students and the fine school spirit at Lone Jack High School. The enthusiasm of our faculty, as we discuss day-to-day and future issues, has been really great. I’ve also enjoyed getting to meet several parents and patrons of our school and look forward to meeting more of you as we progress through the school year.
I wanted to take a moment and discuss a few of the exciting things that have either occurred at our school recently or are coming up soon:
Monitors in the commons area –We now have two new monitors mounted on the walls in our commons area for viewing news and sports program before the start of school and during lunch. These monitors are also being used to broadcast live high school basketball from our gymnasium while folks are enjoying a snack from the concession stand. We hope to be able to post daily announcements on the monitors soon.
New Class Schedule – We are working to create a classroom schedule for the 2012-13 school year that is more conducive to students’ educational needs, including several college preparatory classes.
New Prom Fundraising Event –We’re making plans to revise and expand the Senior Auction into a fun event that creates even greater opportunities for fundraising to benefit Prom. Stay tuned for new and exciting information regarding this activity!
Good Sportsmanship – I want to mention my appreciation for the fine student support of our basketball teams, particularly during the Santa Fe game on January 31st. Though our boys’ team suffered a loss, our school scored big points in enthusiasm and good sportsmanship from our student fans.
MaxPreps – Speaking of sports, you can now stay current with your favorite Lone Jack High School team via MaxPreps.com on our school website. Just go to High School/Athletics then click on MaxPreps Sports Statistics in the right column. There, you’ll find schedules, rosters, game scores, summaries, stats and even conference standings.
Congratulations to the Academic Team, who recently won the I-70 conference competition for the first time in school history! The members of the academic team that competed are: Rob Scherer, Alyson Duvall, Patrick McCormick, Blake Chura, Carson Brown, Chris Massia and Abby Altman. I also want to extend special congratulations to Abby Altman and Carson Brown who were selected as members of the All-Conference Academic Team.
Lastly, I wanted to invite any parents who are interested in finding out a bit more about me and what's going on at the high school to our library on Thursday, February 16th at 6:30pm.
