Greetings
Well, we’re off to a great start on the 2012-13 school year. I’ve been really proud of the way in which our student body conducts themselves on a daily basis. You guys really are special. Parents, grandparents and community members should be proud. That being said, I hope you enjoyed the extended Labor Day weekend and are ready to settle into a great fall season.
Junior High football team and fans, please note: the football game scheduled for Tuesday, September 4th versus Sweet Springs, has been cancelled. Your next game is on Monday, the 10th at Crest Ridge at 5pm per the regular schedule.
All of our sports teams are hard at it: volleyball, softball, cross-country and football are competing enthusiastically and win or lose, we’re proud of all who participate. That, of course, includes our dedicated cheerleaders and managers for each of our teams.
Though I was unable to attend, I’m told the Mule Pride Marching Band did our school proud at the Commemoration Day event here in Lone Jack. The band is now preparing for a marching competition event in Bonner Springs, Kansas, Band Day at Carrolton and the Blue Springs Marching Invitational toward the end of the month. Check our school calendar for the exact dates. Good luck to all of you band members. Play Loud! Be Proud!
An FFA leadership conference and degree ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, September 13th immediately after school. Also, an area Barnwarming Dance is scheduled for Saturday evening, September 22nd at 7pm in Harrisonville. Sounds like fun.See Mr. Davidson for details regarding both of these events.
In case you haven’t heard, our school received notice just recently that we have been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Monsanto Company. The gift is to be used to purchase new laptops for our math classes and to establish Study Island, a program designed to provide additional assistance to students who are struggling in math. We will also purchase a cart to make our new laptops mobile so that they may be transported from one math class to another. We’re very excited about this wonderful gift of support from the Monsanto Company.
Let’s not forget that there’s no school on Monday, September 17th, however, Wednesday, September 19th is Bus Drivers’ Day. Please take a moment and let your bus driver know that you appreciate them. We have a really great team of drivers. Thanks to each of you.
And lastly, while I’m thanking folks, I want to express appreciation to our teachers and staff that have helped make the start of this new school year a great one. Lone Jack has a fantastic group of educators and support staff and each of you are an integral part of the fine reputation that our school enjoys. Thanks to each one of you! Mules Pride!
