Winter Weather/School Closing

Snow Day make-up:

Lone Jack schools will be in session on Friday May 18 in order to make up the day of school that was missed for snow on Monday February 13. This will be the last day of school and will be an early release day. Assuming we have no more snow days, this change of calendar will be approved at the March 12 meeting of the board of education.

In case of school closing for inclement weather, information will be delivered by using the following methods:

1. Text message
2. Local media
3. School website

The district uses the KMBC broadcast cooperative to report closings. The information is first listed on KMBC 9 TV, then it goes to all television and radio outlets.

For morning closings the superintendent of schools makes every effort to decide by 6:00am. Dismissal of students during the school day is rare, but when it is warranted the district will use the above methods for communication and will make sure that all students have supervision.
