We are excited to introduce Chelsea Henry as our new counselor to begin in August.
Chelsea Henry is excited to join the community as your new Elementary School Counselor. With a background in developing comprehensive counseling curriculum and a deep focus on mental health supports, she is dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture where every student feels seen and supported.
Before moving to Lone Jack in 2023, she spent three years serving as a counselor at Lutheran High School in St. Peter’s, Missouri. While her previous experience was at the secondary level, her core philosophy remains the same: she believes that through strong relationship building, schools can be a place where students can identify their unique strengths and develop the resilience they need to thrive.
After spending the last few years at home with her two sons (her oldest will be joining the kindergarten class this fall!), she is eager to return to the hallways and support our students' growth. When she’s not at school, you’ll likely find her outside enjoying the fresh air and any number of outdoor activities. Chelsea looks forward to meeting you all soon!

I am honored to step into the role as Principal of Lone Jack Elementary and to join a district known for its close‑knit community, its commitment to student success, and its dedication to empowering all learners. After fourteen years as an educator, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve students, staff, and families in a school community that values connection, consistency, and doing what is best for kids.
My career has included meaningful experiences in both the Independence and Grain Valley School Districts, where I have taught, led, and supported students across a variety of roles. I have provided administrative relief across multiple buildings and served as a director for Grain Valley’s summer school program. These opportunities have strengthened my knowledge of instructional leadership, collaboration, and schoolwide systems.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education from Illinois State University, a Master of Science in K‑12 School Administration from the University of Central Missouri, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Superintendency, also from the University of Central Missouri. Each step of my educational journey has reinforced my commitment to continuous growth and to building strong, student‑centered systems that support both teaching and learning.
Throughout my career, I have worked to lead with steadiness, approachability, and support. Building strong relationships is at the heart of my work, and I am committed to ensuring that students feel known, teachers feel supported, and families feel connected. My goal is to create an environment where every member of our school community feels valued and heard.
My husband, Dane, and I live in Grain Valley with our four children—Maeva (11), Vanna (10), Witt (8), and Vada (6). As both an educator and a parent, I understand the importance of a school environment that is safe, welcoming, and focused on helping every child thrive.
I am truly excited to join the Lone Jack Elementary community and look forward to partnering with staff and families to continue the school’s tradition of excellence. It is a privilege to serve this community, and I am eager to begin this work together

Per Senate Bill 63 (SB 63), students in full-time home school, full-time virtual school, and Family Paced Education Education (FPE) schools can now participate in extracurricular and co-curricular activities in their public school of residence.
Effective August 28, 2025, SB 63 ensures that students who reside within the Lone Jack School District boundaries and receive instruction outside of traditional public-school settings may still participate in district-sponsored athletics, fine arts, and other co-curricular activities. These students are eligible to try out for and join school activities under the same standards as traditionally enrolled students, provided they meet all eligibility requirements.
Where should I begin?
Parents should contact the Activities Office at 816-697-3539 x226 or email trathke@lonejackc6.net to begin the process. Participation in co-curricular activities such as band and choir require the student to be enrolled in the associated course at their school of residence.
What are the requirements?
Reside within our attendance boundaries
Adhere to eligibility standards (academics, conduct, completing a physical if required)
Pay applicable participation fees
Be enrolled in the corresponding co-curricular class for band or choir
Adhere to the MSHSAA Citizenship by-laws and the "Self Report" requirement
Parents must verify student academic eligibility during each grade check period
What are the next steps?
After contacting the Activities Office, parents will sent a link to register their resident participant student. Residency verification will be requested and as required, activities registration forms will need to be completed.
